The immediate former Commissioner of Rural and Community Development in Kano State, Abbas Sani Abbas, has dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abbas, who was among the commissioners dropped by Governor Abba Yusuf recently, announced his defection on Friday at the residence of the Senate Deputy President, Barau Jibrin.

The Syndicate reports that there has been a gale of defection from the NNPP in the state to the APC in a realignment of forces ahead of the 2027 general election.

Abbas, who was received by Senator Jibrin and the state APC chairman, Abdullahi Abbas pledged to work towards the success of the APC at the state and national level.

In his remarks, the deputy senate president welcomed the former commissioner into the APC fold, saying “we proudly embrace Hon. Abbas, a dedicated grassroots mobiliser to our party”.

He assured him of unwavering support, and to work together to build a better future for the people of Kano State and all Nigerians.

“Together, we will continue to promote the values of good governance, inclusivity and service to humanity,” Barau added.
