CAS tasks commanders to be innovative, strategic in tackling evolving security threats

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has tasked commanders of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) to be innovative, strategic and decisive in tackling evolving security threats in the country.

Speaking at the First Quarter Meeting with Branch Chiefs, AOCs, and Commandants, Hasan charged them to be proactive and provide purposeful leadership to troops to achieve the goals of eliminating all threats to the country.

The CAS said NAF will continue to refine its doctrines, integrate advance technologies, and strengthen its counter-UAV capabilities.

He also addressed the commanders on the impact of political shifts in Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso on counterterrorism efforts in the region.

He noted that the withdrawal of these countries from ECOWAS could affect joint operations, as such the NAF must dominate the environment to maintain regional stability.

Domestically, he warned against complacency, citing emerging threats such as the resurgence of Boko Haram and drone-based attacks.

The Syndicate reports that the two-day meeting provides a platform for senior officers to review past achievements, identify challenges, and shape NAF’s 2025 roadmap.

The meeting is focusing on innovation, inter-agency collaboration, and deployment of cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and reinforce national security.
