Children Advocate Laws To Improve Acess To Education in Jigawa

Children in Jigawa state have advocated for new laws to enhance access to education and protect them from every form of abuse their rights.
The children made the call through the state Children Parliament, during a special session in the chamber of the state’s House of Assembly, presided by the Speaker, Jamila Aliyu Abdulkadir.
The children parliament speaker said access to basic education, health and other essentials of life, are key to building good future for any child.
Jamila appealed to both the legislative and executive arms to act on the children’s demands, to make their future better.
Meanwhile, UNICEF has congratulated Nigerian children on the World Children Day celebrations and enjoined them to face their studies seriously.
The Synducate reports that World Children’s Day is celebrated annually on November 20 to mark the United Nations’ adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The theme of the 2024 edition is “Listing to the future”.
It is UNICEF’s biggest day of the year and an occasion to advocate and raise awareness for the most pressing issues facing children worldwide.
Since 2017, the World Children’s Day has been celebrated on 20 November. Now into its eight-year, children’s participation and youth engagement will, as always, be a cornerstone of WCD activities in 2024.
Apart of this year’s celebration, the children had engaged the House of Assembly, advocating for laws on all issues affecting their growth and development.
