NEDC Supports 600 Female Students With Dignity Kits in Yobe

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) in collaboration with Ubola Rural Community Foundation, has distributed 600 dignity kits to some female students and girls in Yobe State.
Distributing the kits to some students in Fune and Damaturu LGAs, the Executive Chairman of Ubola Rural Community Foundation, Mr. Musa Audu, said the gesture was to restore the dignity of female students who could not afford to buy sanitary pads.
While narrating the effects of Boko Haram attacks on women, girls and boys, Audu said the dignity kits would help women and girls to maintain their dignity during humanitarian crisis.
According to him, dignity kits are essential to maintaining self-esteem and confidence, which are important in coping with stressful and potentially overwhelming humanitarian situations.
He lamented that many female students could not return to school due to the low income earned by their parents and guardians, saying serious attention needs to be taken to address the issue.
In his remark, the NEDC Yobe State Coordinator, Professor Ali Ibrahim Abbas, said the dignity kits would impact the beneficiaries, who are mostly students, and encourage them to study well.
