Defend Democracy, Safeguard Nigerians, CDS Tasks Military
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa has charged the military not to relax in defending democracy and safeguarding Nigerians.
The CDS gave the charge during the decoration of 35 Major Generals with their new rank on Monday in Abuja.
Musa emphasised the need tackle the security challenges confronting the country head-on, stressing that their promotion was for them to reinvigorate their efforts in that direction.
He added that the promotion of the senior officers was a testament to their courage, dedication, sacrifice and professional conduct, as such the Nigerian Armed Forces will continue to rely on their leadership and expertise to safeguard the country and Nigerians.
He also charged all the newly decorated senior officers to remain loyal, dedicated to duty, and improve the welfare of troops under their command.
The CDS further said their actions must ultimately enhance the Armed Forces.
Musa appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding the officers worthy of promotion and assured of their steadfastness in serving the nation.
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede congratulated the families of the decorated senior officers, adding that without their unrelenting support and prayers, their achievements may not have been possible.
The COAS charged the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Nigerian Army and the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted senior officers, Major General LG Lepdung appreciated President Tinubu for endorsing their promotion, and pledged that they would remain dedicated to the service of the Nigerian Army and the nation.
