Deliver tangible results within six months or be sacked, Gov Idris tells commissioner
Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has given the newly sworn in Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and Mining, Garba Hassan Warrah, six months to deliver tangible results or be shown the way out.
The directive was also given to Managing Director of the newly established Kebbi State Mining Development Agency, Abdullahi Buhari Warrah.
The governor issued the order after the swearing in of the new commissioner, on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
He said, though their appointments were based on merit and their track records, the administration would not condone non-performance or laxity from any government official.
“I believe in your track record and goodwill, that is why we entrusted you with these responsibilities, but if you fail to deliver, we will show you the way out,” the governor warned.
He emphasized that the priority of the new commissioner and the agency is to boost revenue generation for the state, stressing that “no government can toy with revenue generation.
“We know what we expended in securing the mining site in Ngaski and, at the end of the day, there was nothing to write home about, that is why I took action.”
He reiterated that federal allocation alone was insufficient to meet the developmental needs of Kebbi State, hence the need to diversify the state’s revenue sources.
He therefore charged the appointees to deliver tangible results within six months, assuring them of government’s full support and enabling environment to succeed.
“We are going to give you every support, all we want from you is performance and results,” the governor added.
The Syndicate reports that the oath of office was administered on the Commissioner by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Umar Abubakar at a ceremony presided by Governor Idris.
