EFCC probes $2.896bn for rehabilitation of 3 refineries
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced investigation into the utilisation of the $2.896 billion released for the rehabilitation of government refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna.
Of this amount, $1.56 billion was allocated to the Port Harcourt refinery, $740.6 million to Kaduna refinery, and $656.9 million to Warri refinery.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, had earlier announced that a forensic audit of the NNPC is underway.
As part of the investigation, the EFCC has written to the company to provide it with the certified records of salaries and allowances of some 14 officials under investigation.
Among those listed were two former chief executives, Mele Kyari and Abubakar Yar’Adua.
Others are Ibrahim Onoja, Mustafa Sugungun, Efiok Akpan, Kayode Adetokunbo, Dikko Ahmed, Babatunde Bakare, Umar Ajiya, Jimoh Olasunkanmi, Bello Kankaya, Ademoye Jelili, Isiaka Abdulrazak and Desmond Inyama.
“In view of the above, you are kindly requested to furnish certified true copies of their emoluments and allowances, including that of those who have retired and no longer work with your organisation,” the EFCC requested in the letter with reference number: R:3000/EFCC/ABJ/HQ/SDC.2/NNPC/VOL.1/698, dated 28 April.
