Emir of Zazzau tasks military officers to prioritise integrity in service
The Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has urged young officers of Armed Forces to embrace the value of leadership that prioritises service, responsibility, and integrity.
He also advised them to apply traditional leadership principles in their roles as commanders and strategic leaders.
The Emir said that the traditional leadership principles are anchored on service to humanity, wisdom, and morality.
Amb. Bamalli gave the advice in a lecture he presented to students of Senior Course 47 and Junior Course 99 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jai, Kaduna State.
The lecture titled “Leadership: Traditional Perspective,” was aimed at providing the officers with a broader understanding of leadership beyond the military sphere, highlighting the role of traditional rulers in governance, stability, and community development.
The Emir underscored the significant influence of traditional rulers in Nigerian society, explaining that they serve as custodians of culture, mediators in conflicts, and key figures in ensuring social cohesion.
He stressed that their leadership is rooted in service, wisdom, and moral authority rather than force or political power.
Amb. Bamalli also said that traditional rulers play critical role in conflict resolution, advising governments, and maintaining law and order within their domains.
He also shared with the military officers key leadership qualities that have guided his rule and should also be embraced by them.
These, he said, include leading by example, wisdom in decision-making, integrity and accountability, empathy and understanding.
The Emir reminded them that leadership is not just about rank or position but about responsibility, selflessness, and vision.
“As military officers, you hold the safety and stability of this nation in your hands. Lead with honor, uphold discipline, and be the kind of leader that others aspire to follow,” he added.
