Federal Varsity Gashua Appoints Prof. Gaidam Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Council of the Federal University Gashua has announced the appointment of Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor.
The decision follows a rigorous, transparent, and competitive selection process conducted in full compliance with the Universities law.
According to a statement signed by Mallam Adamu Saleh, the Deputy Director and Head, Information and Protocol, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Barrister Ibrahim Usman, who announced the appointment, said that the selection was merit-driven, with emphasis on academic excellence, proven leadership, administrative competence, and a clear vision for the University’s advancement.
“Professor Geidam’s appointment reflects our unwavering commitment to due process and our resolve to position Federal University Gashua for sustained growth and global relevance,” He said.
Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam is a seasoned academic, administrator, and scholar of high repute. A renowned Professor of Veterinary Medicine, he brings over two decades of extensive experience in teaching, research, and university administration.
He added that, prior to this appointment, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Maiduguri, having held several other key administrative positions.
“Professor Geidam boasts an impressive record of scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals and has made significant contributions to research, innovation, and community development.
“His leadership style is widely regarded as inclusive, visionary, and results-oriented—qualities the Governing Council believes will strengthen the University’s core mandates of teaching, research, and community service.”
He emphasized that, on behalf of the Council, congratulated Professor Geidam on his well-deserved appointment.
He called on staff, students, alumni, and all stakeholders to extend their full cooperation and support to the new Vice-Chancellor to ensure the continued progress and development of the University.
The Pro-Chancellor further reaffirmed the Governing Council’s commitment to strengthening institutional governance and promoting academic excellence at Federal University Gashua.
