General Wase assumes duty as GOC 1 Division
The new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army (NA), and Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase has assumed duty.
Wase took over command as the 44th GOC of the Division during a colourful ceremony in Kaduna. He took over from Major General Mayirenso Saraso on Tuesday.
In his remarks, the outgoing GOC expressed gratitude to God and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for the privilege to lead the elite 1 Division.
He appreciated officers and soldiers of the Division for their support during his tenure, and urged them to accord same to the new GOC.
The handing over ceremony featured the decoration of the new GOC with 1 Division insignia and farewell address to troops by the outgoing GOC, and the handing over of the new command flag to General Wase to signify the begining of a new era in the Division.
