Gov. Buni approves employment of 267 health professionals

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has approved the employment of 267 health professionals to boost the manpower needs of the state in the heath sector.

A total of 140 of those employed graduated in various fields of medical sciences in India, sponsored by the state government.

The graduates, locally known as ‘Buni Scholars’, include 43 who bagged degree in Nursing, 43 Pharmacists, 22 laboratory Scientists, 24 Radiologists, 7 Optometrists and one Public Health graduate.

The rest of those employed, totalling 127, were volunteers serving in various health facilities across the state.

The Syndicate reports that Governor Buni’s administration had in the last five years, also consistently employed those who graduated from the state-owned coollege of nursing and midwifery.

The administration has established primary health centers in all the political wards in the state, upgraded the four General Hospitals in Gashua, Potiskum, Geidam and Buni Yadi to Specialist hospitals, and eight primary health centers to General hospitals.

The government has also equipped the state teaching hospital to expand access to healthcare, and make it affordable to all residents of the state.
