Gov. Buni warns appointees against campaign for 2027

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has warned those already campaigning ahead of the 2027 election, saying the state government will not tolerate any attempt to overheat the polity.
The governor gave the warning on Tuesday in Damaturu while swearing-in some newly appointed permanent secretaries and chairmen and members of boards and commission.
He warned that any political engagement geared towards 2027 electioneering by public officers and civil servants, would be considered a sabotage of the government.
“I have noted in recent times the emerging politicking for 2027. As a government we are concentrating on executing our campaign promises to the people.
“We will not tolerate any deliberate act of overheating the polity intended to cause confusion, disaffection and to divert government attention from its focus,” he stressed.
To the new officials, Gov. Buni said their appointments were based on merit, and should therefore use their experience to promote good governance and enhance the delivery of quality services to the public.
“You are therefore admonished to put in your wealth of experience for the government to achieve its set targets for us to collectively develop the state and build a prosperous Yobe state.
“l am optimistic that you will be dedicated to your duties with the interest of the people placed over and above personal interests.
“You are also advised to recognise and reward hard work to bring out the best in all staff in your respective organisations,” he added.
