Gov Namadi assures Radio Nigeria of continued support

Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, has assured Radio Nigeria, Kaduna of the Jigawa State Government’s continued support, emphasizing that the partnership between both institutions remains vital to effective public communication and grassroots engagement.

The Governor gave the assurance while receiving the Acting Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria Kaduna, Malam Lawal Ali Garba, and members of his management team on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Dutse.

Welcoming the delegation, Namadi described Radio Nigeria Kaduna as “an institution that must be reckoned with in the field of journalism in Nigeria,” saying that its wide coverage makes it one of the most effective platforms for reaching citizens, particularly at the grassroots level.

Appreciating the management for recognising what he described as his administration’s modest achievements and for presenting him with a commemorative plaque, the Governor stated:

“I also want to thank you for recognizing our modest achievements in the governance of Jigawa State. Not only did you commend us, but you also presented us with a plaque as a symbol of recognition of the modest progress we have made. We truly appreciate this gesture, and I want to assure you that it will encourage us to do even more for the people of Jigawa State.”

“Our partnership is something we deeply cherish. I want to assure you that we will continue to strengthen this relationship. Radio Nigeria Kaduna has a wide reach, and its wavelength extends across many communities. It remains one of the best institutions for reaching our people, especially at the grassroots.”

Namadi stressed that despite the growing influence of social media, radio continues to play a very vital role in communicating government policies and activities, especially in northern Nigeria.

He reaffirmed that the Jigawa State Government would continue to strengthen its collaboration with Radio Nigeria Kaduna for the benefit of the general public.

“I assure you that the Jigawa State Government will continue to support Radio Nigeria Kaduna in the interest of the general public.”

Earlier in his remarks, the Acting Zonal Director, Malam Lawal Ali Garba, said the visit was aimed at deepening collaboration and strengthening stakeholder engagement between the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Jigawa State Government.

He conveyed the appreciation of the Director General of FRCN, Dr. Mohammad Bulama, for the consistent support extended to the corporation by the Jigawa State Government.
Malam Garba commended Governor Namadi for achievements recorded in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and civil service welfare.

He specifically highlighted the administration’s investment of over ₦8 billion in scholarship support in the 2025 fiscal year under the Danmodi Students Care Programme, covering nearly 35,000 students.

He also acknowledged the implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage for state workers, recruitment of health personnel, revitalisation of free healthcare programmes for children and pregnant women, agricultural reforms, and infrastructural development across the State.

The Acting Zonal Director further praised the prevailing peace and security in Jigawa State and the Governor’s citizen engagement tour, “Gwamnati da Jama’a,” which received extensive coverage on Radio Nigeria platforms.

The visit concluded in the presentation of a plaque to Namadi in recognition of his service and contributions to the development of Jigawa State.
