Tinubu’s Tax Bills Anti-Poor, Will Impoverish More Nigerians – Kwankwaso
The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso says it is wrong for President Bola Tinubu to ignore the concerns raised by Nigerians about his tax reform bills.

Kwankwaso said in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service that democracy demands that leaders should be responsive to their people and accommodate different views.

The ANPP chieftain said the tax bills as presently crafted, are anti-poor and will further impoverish more Nigerians, thereby widening the gap between the rich and poor in the country.

He added that the proposed VAT increase will spark inflation and make life more unbearable for citizens.

Kwankwaso, therefore, advised the president to direct energy and resources toward addressing the current hard times Nigerians are going through.

He also urged the President to halt his unbashed rush to get the bills approved and listen to the concerns of Nigerians about provisions of the bills.
