Gov.Yusuf urges FG to reduce Hajj fare

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has appealed to the Federal Government to reduce the Hajj fare in view of the economic challenges being faced by the citizens.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Malam Sanusi Bature on Tuesday in Kano.
Bature said that the governor said this at an occasion organized by the State Pilgrims Welfare Board to refund money remitted by the Saudi Arabian Government due to the power outage experienced during the 2023 Hajj operations.
He quoted Yusuf as commending the Saudi Arabian Government for the gesture and its concern for humanity.

He promised to send an Appreciation Letter to the Saudi Government through its Consulate in Kano.

He also commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for its prudence and timely payment of the money.

Yusuf lauded the pilgrims board for its successful conduct of the 2024 Hajj,adjudged the best in the country and urged it to sustain the feat in future Hajj operations.

He said that he visited Saudi Arabia a few weeks ago to perform the lesser Hajj and to also commence preparations for the next Hajj in order to find out areas that the State Government needed to intervene further.

In his remarks, the state Deputy Governor, Malam Aminu Gwarzo, who was the Head of the 2024 Kano State Hajj Delegation, appreciated the support the governor provided to the pilgrims before,during and after the Hajj.

The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Laminu Danbaffa, said the total amount refunded through NAHCON for disbursement to the state pilgrims that performed the 2023 Hajj was N375 million.
