ICPC Nabs El-Rufai’s Accountant-General, Finance Commissioner
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has arrested a former Accountant-General and Finance Commissioner under former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada was arrested on Sunday by the ICPC at Lagos airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country.
ICPC operatives had reportedly received intelligence on her plan to leave the country to evade investigation into mountain allegations of corruption while in public service.
The arrest is part of a broader crackdown on officials of el-Rufai’s administration, over their roles in alleged financial mismanagement of the state.
While the specific allegations against Bada remain undisclosed, insiders believe they are connected to large-scale financial irregularities, including the mismanagement of public funds and alleged embezzlement.
The ICPC has hinted that more high-profile arrests could follow as investigations continue into the financial conduct of key officials during el-Rufai’s tenure.
Bada is expected to provide more details as investigation progresses into the alleged diversion of N432 billion of government funds during the el-Rufai administration.
