Jigawa Govt Pays N1.543Bn Entitlements Of 609 Retirees

Jigawa state government has commenced the payment of N1.543 billion retirement and death benefits to 609 civil servants who retired from August to December 2024.

This is contained in a statement by Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, Public Relations Officer in the office of the state Head of Service.

He said 465 retirees will receive N1,173,946,287, while N315,023,121 will go to families of 103 staff members who died while in service, and N54,193,759 to families of 39 retirees who died before reaching the minimum period of five years after retirement.

He added that two people who did not contribute up to five years, received N749, 010.31 including 15% interest.

The statement said the state contributory pension board will continue to ensure prompt payment of pension and other entitlements to retirees.

It quoted the Executive Secretary of the board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, as  calling on citizens to support the state government as it strives for a “better Jigawa where everyone will be comfortable in the shared prosperity agenda of the state”.

The executive secretary, who advised the pensioners to be careful of fraudsters, warned them to never bribe anyone for their terminal benefits.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Umar Namadi for the prompt payment of pension and gratuity, which has enlivened the hearts of pensioners, and bolster their well-being.
