Jigawa North-East Senator Seeks Reelection, Flaunts Achievements

The Senator representing Jigawa North-East Senatorial District, Ahmed Abdulhamid, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election.
He is anchoring his renewed bid on what he described as a solid record of performance and service delivery across the zone.
Abdulhamid, who is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, conveyed his decision in a letter of expression of interest addressed to party stakeholders across the eight local government areas in the senatorial district.
The lawmaker said his decision to re-contest was informed by the need to consolidate on the developmental strides being recorded during his current tenure, noting that the district has witnessed significant transformation in key sectors.
He highlighted major projects facilitated through his office to include the continuation and completion of the Police Training Institute in Kafin-Hausa, the establishment of an Anti-Riot Command and modern police barracks in Guri, as well as the siting of Federal College of Agriculture in Kirikasamma and College of Education Malamadori.
Abdulhamid attributed these interventions to effective representation and synergy with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that his legislative efforts have translated into tangible benefits for the constituents.
Beyond infrastructure, the senator pointed to strengthened community engagement, youth empowerment initiatives, and inclusive programmes aimed at improving livelihoods across the senatorial district.
“Over the past three years, we have laid a solid foundation for sustainable development across our senatorial district,” he said, noting that the achievements were products of purposeful leadership and collective support from the people.
He, however, acknowledged that challenges remain, adding that his re-election bid is driven by a determination to expand opportunities for youths, empower women, and deepen infrastructure development.
The lawmaker maintained that attracting greater dividends of democracy to Jigawa North-East would remain central to his agenda if returned to the Senate.
Describing his ambition as a continuation of a shared vision, Abdulhamid said his aspiration transcends personal interest, focusing instead on building a more prosperous, secure, and united district.
He appealed to constituents and party members to sustain their support, assuring them of improved performance in another term.
“I humbly seek the continued support, trust, and mandate of our people to consolidate on the gains achieved and deliver even greater results in the years ahead,” he said.
The declaration signals the early stirrings of political activities ahead of the forthcoming elections, with stakeholders expected to intensify consultations and grassroots mobilisation across the zone.
Abdulhamid expressed optimism about the district’s future, emphasizing that sustained collaboration between leaders and the people would guarantee continued progress, “Together, we will build a stronger and more prosperous Jigawa North-East,” he added.
