Jigawa State College of Education Matriculates 420

Jigawa State College of Education Gumel has matriculated 420 new students who will undergo degrees programmes in different educational and teaching disciplines.

The college, which is affiliated with Bayero University Kano, matriculated the 11th set of its undergraduate students.

The Provost, Dr Nura Muhammad Ringim said the college was well equipped to run degree programmes, and commended the state government for the immediate measures taken to improve the educational system, including the review and increase in scholarship grants for students.

Dr Muhammad said that the government has been supporting the college to commence five new degree programmes already approved by the Senate of Bayero University Kano.

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, represented by the Dean of Islamic Studies and Sharia, Professor Salihu Lawan, expressed delight for the dedication and commitment of the college staff in discharging their duties diligently.

He described the college as the best among the institutions affiliated to the university.

Earlier, the college registrar, Malam Bala Isyaku attributed the success recorded by the institution to the support and cooperation of the state government.

He pledged that the institution will continue to produce graduates that will compete with their contemporaries in others institutions.

The registrar charged the students to study hard and contribute their quota to the development of education in the country.
