Jigawa State, NDLEA to strengthen synergy on fight against drug abuse, trafficking

The Jigawa State and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) have pledged to strengthen their synergy towards the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the state.
The Chief Judge of Jigawa State/Chairman State Judicial Service Commission Hon. Justice Umar M. Sadiq, stated this while receiving the newly deployed NDLEA Commander in the state, Hassan Kabaju in his office in Dutse.
Sadiq reiterated a zero-tolerance stance on illicit drugs, pledging to support the NDLEA.
The Chief Judge emphasized that a drug-free society was critical for sustainable development and urged the new Commander to maintain the integrity of all evidence presented before the courts.
The NDLEA Commander, in his remarks, sought the Chief Judge’s support for faster disposal of pending drug cases.
He commended the Jigawa State Judiciary for its existing cooperation and pledged to strengthen intelligence-led operations.
Meanwhile, the Chief Judge had also received in audience, the newly deployed Director of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state, Alhaji Bala Mohammed Baba at the State High Court complex in Dutse.
The meetings exhibited the Judiciary’s commitment to tied inter-agency collaboration in the administration of justice, youth development, and the fight against substance abuse.
The Chief Judge welcomed the newly posted NYSC Director and their discussions centered on the welfare, legal rights, and discipline of corps members serving across the state.
Sadiq reaffirmed the Judiciary’s readiness to partner with the NYSC in providing prompt legal aid and ensuring that any legal matters involving corps members are handled expeditiously.
The Chief Judge also commended the Scheme for its role in national unity and development.

In response, the NYSC Director appreciated the Chief Judge for the audience and requested continued judicial support in matters relating to corps members’ safety and security.
Speaking during both visits, the Chief Judge said that the Jigawa State Judiciary remained an impartial but proactive arm of government, ready to work with all security and development agencies within the framework of the law. “Justice delayed is justice denied. We shall continue to give priority attention to matters that touch on national security and the future of our youth,” the Chief Judge stated.

The separate courtesy visits were attended by the Chief Registrar of the State High Court Barr. Aisha Ahmed Babura, Chief Registrar Shari’a Court of Appeal Barr. Kabiru Abubakar Gumel, Deputy Chief Registrars and Directors in State High Court.
