Kachako, Ex-Acting Governor of Katsina State dies at 85

The death has occurred of retired Colonel Isah Kachako, a popular grassroots politician in Kano state, who once represented Kano South in the Senate.

Kachako who was buried on Sunday was a former acting military governor of Katsina state, and had commanded the 35 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Katsina.

The deceased, born on January 15, 1940, started out as a teacher and later headmaster before enlisting into the Nigerian Army in 1968. He ventured into politics after retirement.

He was elected Senator on the banner of the defunct National Republican Convention in 1992. He later joined the
All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) before he crossed over to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
