Kaduna Varsity ASUU Resumes Indefinite Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kaduna State University branch has embarked on an indefinite strike over the failure of the state government to honour agreement it entered into with the union.
The notice of the strike dated April 24, 2025, was signed by the Chairman, Dr Peter Adamu and Secretary, Dr Peter M. Waziri.
Their grievances bordered on unpaid salaries, non remittance of 10 years pension contributions, unpaid SIWES supervision and earned academic allowances, and the preservation of institutional autonomy.
Others include the refusal to pay promotion arrears and the wage awards of 25% and 35%, introduced to cushion the effects of economic hardships.
Governor Uba Sani had a few months ago prevailed on the union to suspend an earlier strike over the issues, with a pledge to intervene appropriately.
“The indefinite strike action is due to breach of trust and failure of the government of Kaduna State to keep to promises and honour the agreement reached by both parties,” ASUU stated.
