Kano Govt declares Thursday Public Holiday to mark beginning of Islamic Year
The Kano State Government has declared Thursday, June 26, as Public Holiday to mark the first of Muharram, signifying the beginning of the Islamic Year 1447.
This is contained in a circular signed by the Principal Assistant Secretary in the Office of the State Head of Service, Malam Ashiru Abdullahi on Wednesday in Kano.
“In line with the usual practice of declaring every 1st of Muharram as work-free-day to mark the beginning of new Islamic Year in the state, I wish to convey the State Government’s approval for a One-day Public Holiday to usher-in the New Year 1447 A.H. come Thursday, June 26, 2025, as the day holds significant role in the Islamic history.
“In view of this, it is hoped that the period will be utilised to pray for peace, stability and prosperity of the state and the nation at large, ” he said.
