Kano Govt distributes computers to healthcare centres
The Kano State Government has distributed 484 laptop computers to apex Primary Healthcare Centres across the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, as part of its digitisation drive to enhance healthcare delivery.
Gov. Abba Yusuf said this at the flag-off of the 2nd Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health Week in Kumbotso LGA of the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature.
Bature quoted the governor as saying that the distribution of computers was a component of the state government’s broader strategy to modernise and digitise healthcare facilities, ensuring efficient service delivery.
He said that several major healthcare facilities, including Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Hospital, Hasiya Bayero Hospital, Nuhu Bamalli Hospital, and the Emergency Unit of the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, had undergone significant renovations.
Yusuf said that the efforts align with his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for frontline healthcare workers and improving access to quality care for Kano residents.
In addition to the computer distribution, the Governor said solar power installations had been provided at the headquarters of the State Primary Healthcare Management Board and its six zonal offices.
He said that hundreds of secondary and primary healthcare facilities had been earmarked for renovation in the state’s 2025 annual budget, underscoring the administration’s focus on healthcare infrastructure.
“The efforts are meant to ensure access to quality and affordable healthcare services for the people of Kano State, irrespective of their socio-economic status,” he said.
Yusuf reiterated his administration’s determination to prioritise the health sector as part of its broader development agenda.
He assured residents that the government would continue to invest in initiatives aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality and improving overall healthcare delivery.
The ongoing renovation and digitisation efforts signal a significant step toward modernising Kano’s healthcare system and providing accessible and affordable care to its citizens.
