Kano Govt Inaugurates 14-Member Minimum Wage Implementation Committee
Kano State Goverment has inaugurated a 14-member committee to advise the government on the implementation of the N70,000 new national minimum wage.
The committee which was inaugurated on Tuesday by the state Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, was given three weeks to submit its report.
He said that the government was committed to the welfare of workers and directed the committee to present practical recommendations for immediate implementation.
The committee chairman, Alhaji Usman Bala Muhammad, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on State Affairs, expressed gratitude to the government for finding them worthy to handle the assignment.
He said that the implementation of the new minimum wage would significantly impact thousands of workers in both the private and public sectors by balancing the interests of employers, employees, and the public.
He assured that the committee would thoroughly analyse available data and consider all relevant factors “to arrive at a sustainable minimum wage recommendation for the state government”.
Members of the committee include Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril Fagge, Commissioner of Finance; Musa Suleman Shanono, Planning and Budget; and Baba Halilu Dantiye, Information and Internal Affairs.
Others are Baffa Sani Gaya, Prof. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, Salahudeen Habib Isa, Ibrahim I. Boyi, Ibrahim Muhammad Kabara, Mustapha Nuraddeen Muhammad, Abdulkadir Abdussalam, Umar Muhammad Jalo, Hassan Salisu Kofar Mata, and Yahaya Umar.
