Kano Govt urges residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies
The Kano State Government has urged residents to be vigilant on security issues by reporting any suspicious activity to security agencies.
Gov. Abba Yusuf, stated this at the commissioning of a Juma’at mosque at Ranawa town in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Ibrahim Shuaibu, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of the state said this in a statement on Friday in Kano.
Represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, Yusuf said that security must be taken seriously by all residents of the state.
“Security should not be taken lightly. You should report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities,” he said.
He called on ward heads to be watchful and ensure that no fraudulent activities such as illegal land or property sales, took place in their areas.
He warned that any ward head found neglecting their duty to maintain security could risk losing their position.
Yusuf also stressed the importance of forming a hygiene committee to ensure that the mosque remains clean and in good condition.
He also encouraged the mosque committee to go beyond the basics of prayer by introducing programmes aimed at teaching morals, especially for the youth, in order to promote values that can help curb social vices such as drug abuse, theft, and violence.
In his remarks, the District Head of Gezawa, Alhaji Mahmud Yusuf, thanked the governor for his words of encouragement and called for proper maintenance of the mosque.
He also expressed gratitude to the people of Gezawa for their continuous support towards the development of the area.
