Katsina Assembly Approves Creation Of 8 New Districts 

The Katsina State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, approved the creation of eight districts in Katsina and Daura Emirates.

The Bill for the creation of the new districts was forwarded to the Assembly by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Monday.

The Assembly, at it’s 196 sitting, presided by the Speaker, Nasir Yahaya, unanimously passed the bill into law.

The bill, aimed at restructuring the traditional institution in the state, was deliberated upon and approved by the assembly shortly after submission.

The additional districts was to enhance the administrative reach of the government, bring governance closer to the people, and empower traditional institutions to play a more significant role in local administration, security and cultural preservation

The new districts in Katsina Emirate are Dankama from Kaita, Radda District from Charanchi, Muduru District from Mani, Dabai District from Danja, Shargalle District from Dutsi, and Katsina District.

In Daura Emirate, Ɗankum District was created from Yanduna, and Ƙawarin Kuɗi District from Yardaje.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has approved motion for the conversion of Government Day Pilot Secondary School Mani to a boarding school.

The motion was sponsored by Hon. Zayyana Shu’aibu Bujawa, the member representing Mani Constituency.

Following the approvals, the Speaker of directed the Clerk of the Assembly to forward a clean copy of the Bill, and the motion to the governor for his assent.
