KDSG pledges inclusive society for children to attain full potential

The Kaduna State Government, on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to creating a more inclusive society where children can thrive, grow, and reach their full potential.
The Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, made the commitments during the Children’s Day Party held at the Snake Island football field within the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event had its theme ‘Stand Up, Speak Up, Building a Bullying-free Generation’.
Salisu emphasised that every child, regardless of background, ability, or circumstance, deserved to be heard, valued, and catered for.
The commissioner highlighted the government’s notable achievements in promoting children’s development and education, which include free and qualitative education for all children, construction of 62 new secondary schools, and the building of 2,326 new classrooms, and renovation of 707 others.
She also said that the government had recruited over 2,000 qualified teachers and trained 26,000 on basic computer skills, classroom management, and literacy and numeracy skills.
These, she said, were in addition to the distribution of 1,482,816 sets of instructional materials to schools as well as supporting girl-child education through the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.
Hajiya Rabi listed other achievements to include enrolling 10,000 Almajiris into formal school systems and establishing initiatives to address the issue of out-of-school children.
She emphasised the importance of working together to provide opportunities, support, and love to children, and empowering them to become the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
The commissioner commended the Chief Medical Director of the hospital for promoting the rights of children and appreciated the children from Comilla Barracks, and all the hospital staffers.
Hajiya Rabi reiterated the government’s commitment to improving and transforming the lives of children througn the enhancement of inclusive learning, mentorship, and conducive environment for teaching and learning, as well as ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and social protection services.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Brigadier General Godwin Ogoh, said the event was a very special occasion meantt to honour all children.
Ogoh said, “Children are the hopes of tomorrow and the dreams of today. Their laughter, curiosity, energy, and creativity light up our lives and remind us of the beauty of innocence and imagination.
“On this day, we celebrate not just their presence, but their potential — the endless possibilities that lie ahead of them.
“To all our wonderful children here, You are unique, talented, and capable of amazing things.”
He encouraged the children to never stop dreaming, exploring, or believing in themselves.
“Today is your day – a day to smile, play, laugh, and be celebrated for everything that makes you who you are.”
Ogoh appreciated parents, teachers, and the organisers who worked tirelessly to support and guide the young minds, saying ”your role in shaping their future is priceless”.
