Kibiya emerges as Kano PDP Chairman
Alhaji Yusuf Kibiya, as emerged as the Kano State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) after he recorded a landslide victory at the elective congress on Sunday.
Halilu Mazagani, the Chairman of the election committee, from the National headquarters of the PDP, stated that Kibiya garnering 3,964 votes to defeat his opponent, Nura Nuhu, who scored 244 votes.
Shortly after the announcement of the results, Abdul Muhammad administered the oath of office on the 39 newly-elected party officials, including Kibiya.
In his acceptance speech,Kibiya thanked members of the party for reposing their confidence in him and promised to lead with transparency and inclusiveness so as to revitalize the party in the state.
Kibiya was the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture in the Rabiu Kwankwaso administration from 1999 to 2003.
About 5,000 delegates partook in the election which took place at the Sabon Gari Stadium,Kano,amid renewed hope among members of the party that the new leadership will take urgent steps to address the challenges facing the party in the state.
