Lawyer chides Kano Anti-graft agency on court order
Malam Tahir Ibrahim, the Lawyer of former Managing Director of Kano Agricultural Supply Company, Bala Mohammed, has accused the Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Malam Muhuyi Rimin-Gado of disobeying court order.
Ibrahim said this when he addressed newsmen on Saturday in Kano.
“We are asking Muhuyi to allow the court officials to do their work and comply with the court order that already vacated the order he claims he has a right to attach Bala Inuwa’s property.
“He (Muhuyi) does not have that right to confiscate Mohamme’s properties. He should comply with the first court order and the court order that gave police the order to vacate the place.
“It’s an abuse of court process by Muhuyi to ignore the Court order which directed that all his Bank accounts be unfrozen and police should leave his company, Limestone Processing company and pay the N3 million fine as damages.
“We are also asking the police to comply because nobody is above the law. We are all living peacefully because of the rule of law, where there is no rule of law , there will be no peace,” he said.
On his invitation by the Chairman of the Anti-graft agency, the lawyer said, “ Muhuyi cannot do anything out of his jurisdiction.
When contacted, Rimin-Gado denied the allegation.
He also accused the lawyer of conniving with one police officer to fraudulently obtain a Court order to recover properties confiscated in the ongoing investigation into alleged misappropriation of N4 billion by the former KASCO Managing Director.
Rimin-Gado said that the judgement allowed the former KASCO MD to withdrew N190 million from frozen bank accounts holding suspected illicit funds.
“The lawyer connived with one police officer and obtained the said court order to also obstruct the ongoing investigation,” he said.
“We are not aware of the order. I will not comply with a court order which we are not a party to,” he added.
