Mass Defection Hits Kaduna PDP
More than 50 frontline politicians mostly from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State.
The defectors were formally presented to APC stakeholders and supporters at a grand rally held at the Murtala Square, Kaduna.
Prominent among the defectors are former governor of the state, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Senator Suleiman Usman Hunkuyi, Senator Dajuma Tela La’ah, Senator Shehu Sani, Hon. Donatus K Mathew, Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji, Hon. Muh’d Sani Shaaban, Amb. Sule Buba, Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde, and Prof. Mato Dogara, among others.
In his speech, the leader of APC in the state, Gov. Uba Sani said that the eveng signified the strength and dominance of the party in the state.
The governor highlighted the giant strides of the administration in the areas of Rural Transformation, Infrastructural Development, Human Capital Development, and Security.
He welcomed the decampees, and assured them of smooth integration into the party.
Uba Sani expressed gratitude to the party faithfuls for their steadfastness and loyalty, and urged them to remain committed to the ideals of the party, and work together to build a better future for the people and the state.
Other stakeholders took turns to commend the administration for the milestones recorded in the areas of rural transformation, infrastructure development, education, health, agriculture, and security.
They pledged to support and cooperate with the administration as it ramps up its development drive.
In their separate remarks, the decampees said that they joined the APC because of the administration’s inclusive and people-centred policies and programmes, as well as the internal democracy within the party.
They committed themselves to intensive and extensive mobilization of more members for the APC and render all necessary support to ensure the success of the government.
