Minister Orders Investigation Into Alleged Criminal Activities In Warri Prison

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered for a comprehensive investigation into reports of alleged criminal activities within Okere Correctional Centre in Warri, Delta State.

The Minister, who gave the order on Tuesday, said the government would not condone such reprehensible behaviour, and anyone found wanting will face severe consequences.

“I will not allow indiscipline to fester under my nose. Any officer found wanting will face the full weight of the law. The leadership of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) must provide explanations.”

He said that the NCoS must uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in the administration of justice within the correctional service system.

“We take these allegations seriously and will not tolerate any form of misconduct within our correctional facilities,” Tunji-Ojo added.

The Minister calls on the general public to provide any relevant information that may aid the investigation.
