NADF to rehabilitate Sabke dam irrigation facilities, abattoirs in Katsina
The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has entered into partnership with Katsina State Government to boost agricultural productivity and food security.
The Syndicate reports that the partnership involves the rehabilitation and optimisation of Sabke Dam irrigation facilities in Mai’aduwa Local Government Area.
The Executive Secretary of NADF, Mr. Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, also said they would fund the revitalisation of abattoirs to modernise meat processing and preservation,
“It will also explore waste-to-energy opportunity and unlock opportunities for the export of high-quality meat products.
“The project underscores NADF’s continued efforts to strengthen the agricultural value chain and boost economic development in the state,” Mohammed said when Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
The Executive Secretary appreciated the governor for the visit, saying it was a strong demonstration of Radda’s commitment to transforming agriculture through purposeful alliances with key federal agencies.
In his remarks, the governor said that the collaboration between the state and NADF will focus on improving irrigation infrastructure, promoting climate-smart agriculture, revitalising the state’s slaugher houses and expanding mechanised farming across the state.
Radda shared the administration’s strides in agriculture over the years, to include the distribution of 400,000 bags of fertilizer, procurement of 400 tractors, 1,000 planters, and 4,000 tillers to enhance farmers efficiency and output of agricultural produce.
He said agriculture remains central to Katsina’s development agenda, where approximately 80% of the state’s population are engaged in farming and related activities.
