NAHCON Secures Space For Nigeria’s 52,000 Pilgrims In Mina, Others
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has paid for 26,287 pilgrims’ spaces in Mina, Musdalifah and Arafat, and will pay for additional 26,000 tomorrow February 13.
This will bring the total to 52,000, which is the projected pilgrims from Nigeria for the 2025 Hajj.
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman said that they took the proactive measures in compliance with the 14th February deadline set by Saudi authorities to finalise contract agreements by Hajj participating countries.
He said that the Commission had signed an agreement in Makkah on January 17, after wide consultations with key stakeholders, particularly the Forum of State Chairmen, board members and representative of the presidency, who were part of the delegation.
Usman acknowledged the collaboration received from Malam Idris Almakura, Alhaji Faruku Yaro Aliyu, Malam Abubakar Salihu from the States Forum, and Malam Ameen Amshi, from the Presidency, in the screening and selection process.
The NAHCON chairman said after the successful engagement of the service provider early in the year, and to prevent last-minute setbacks, Vice President Kashim Shettima gave his permission for them to travel to Makkah and finalize this critical contract, which is an essential requirement for uploading visas with effect from February 19.
He appreciated the Vice President for his support, confidence, and non-interference in the Commission’s operations.
This, the chairman said, has enabled swift and decisive action in preparing the grounds for a smooth Hajj 2025 Hajj.
“The Vice President’s quick response to the request to travel to Saudi Arabia to resolve any bottlenecks has paid off with the reservation now put to rest,” Usman said.
He advised all intending pilgrims to get updates on the preparations for the 2025 Hajj through NAHCON’s news outlets.
The chairman urged all intending pilgrims efforts have been put in place for a convenient and hitch-free Hajj.
