Netanyahu leading Israel to civil war – Ex-Chief Justice
Former Israeli Supreme Court Chief Justice Aharon Barak warned that Israel is on the brink of a potential civil war due to escalating internal divisions, as reported by the Israeli news site Ynetnews.
Barak expressed deep concern over the government’s handling of judicial reforms and its anticipated decision to dismiss Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, who is currently investigating the “Qatar-Gate” scandal involving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
Barak emphasized the growing societal rift, describing it as an “eighth front” that threatens to derail the nation into chaos.
“The main issue facing Israeli society is the ‘eighth front’—the deep rift among Israelis themselves. This divide is worsening, and I fear it will be like a train going off the rails, spiraling into an abyss and leading to civil war,” he said.
He urged compromise and dialogue to prevent further erosion of democracy and avert a catastrophic collapse.
