New NDA Commandant pledges to uphold merit, reward competence, hard work

Maj-Gen. Abdul Ibrahim on Tuesday assumed duty as the 33rd Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
Ibrahim replaced Major General John Ochai who was redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre in Abuja.
The new commandant is a member of the 39th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, and was the immediate Commander of Infantry Corps, Nigerian Army.
Ibrahim in his remarks during the handing over ceremony in Kaduna on Tuesday, pledged to lead without sentiment and make a huge mark as the commandant of the country’s elite military academy.
”You can be sure that merit, competence, and hard work will be recognised and rewarded.
“I will not accept indiscipline, lousiness, and those behaviors that should not be, I will not put my eyes away from that, so I hope we work together,” he said.
He appreciated the tremendous work done by General Ochai saying, “I think we all agree that we have seen a lot of improvement.”
Earlier, Major General Ochai appreciated God for having the privilege to serve NDA as commandant, and appealed for maximum support to the new commandant to achieve desired results.
As part of the handing over ceremony, a regiment parade was conducted in honour of the outgone commandant.
