NSCDC arrests 6 suspected vandals in Kano
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested six suspected vandals in connection with the stealing of electricity equipment at Hayin Da’e Area of Hotoro in Tarauni Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
This is contained in a statement by the state NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi newsmen on Tuesday in Kano.
Abdullahi said the arrest of the suspects followed credible intelligence from members of local vigilantes in the area.
“The suspects have been apprehended by NSCDC with vandalized transformer cables believed to have been removed on a transformer at midnight in the area,” he said.
Abdullahi said the suspects included Muhammad Yusuf, 18, Muhammad Sani Adamu, 19, Umar Musa,19, Ahmed Auwal 20, Muhd Yusuf, 28, Usman Ali 19, all residents of the area.
He said preliminary investigations had revealed that the suspects had been terrorizing residents of Hayin Da’e, Farawa Kwanar Yashi and Hotoro eastern bypass with burglary, theft and vandalism of electricity installations.
“The corps has since launched an investigation with a view to making further arrests associated with the crime, with confessional statements already obtained from the suspects,” he said.
Abdullahi said the suspects would be charged to Court as soon as investigations were concluded.
“The NSCDC Kano command under the able leadership of Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumini intensifies surveillance and patrols in the state aimed at ridding Kano of vandals and criminal elements,” he added.
