NUJ celebrates Eid-El-Kabir with Jigawa Muslim Ummah

The Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has extended warm greetings to its members and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a statement signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Isma’ila Ibrahim Dutse, the Union described the festival as a period of joy, visitation, sharing, sacrifice, love, reflection, and prayers.
The Union urged the Muslim Ummah to reflect on the teachings and exemplary lifestyle of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and his companions in order to promote a peaceful, united, and prosperous society.
The statement commended Gov. Umar A. Namadi for his contributions to the development of education and infrastructure, as well as for the prompt payment of salaries, gratuities, and monthly pensions in the state.
Furthermore, the Council praised the Governor for introducing the Polling Units Development Funds initiative aimed at bridging the gap between government policies and the immediate needs of citizens, particularly at the grassroots level. According to the statement, the initiative demonstrates the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsive governance.
As a watchdog of society, the NUJ Jigawa State Council pledged to closely monitor the utilization of the funds across the state to ensure they effectively address the immediate needs of citizens at the grassroots level.
The Union also appreciated the Governor for approving and releasing the sum of Two Million Naira to support senior veterans, families of deceased journalists, and members of the Union in celebrating this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
The NUJ further advised the public to exercise caution, especially in handling and consuming food during the festive period, as the celebration involves animal slaughter and large gatherings.
