NUJ condoles Jigawa Pilgrims Board over demise of staff

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, has extended condolences to the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board following the death of Alhaji Nasiru Alhassan, a staff member of the Board.
During a condolence visit to the office of the Director General of the Board, Alhaji Gambo Umar Labbo, NUJ Chairman Comrade Ismai’la Ibrahim Dutse conveyed the Union’s message of sympathy. He stated, “We came here to extend our condolences over the passing of Alhaji Nasiru Alhassan, your zonal officer for Maigatari and Gumel Local Government Areas.”
Comrade Ismai’la also congratulated the Board and the Jigawa State Government on the successful completion of this year’s Hajj operations. He praised the board’s achievements during the pilgrimage and presented a congratulatory letter highlighting the successful management of the exercise, a testament to the board’s dedication and hard work.
He emphasized the collaborative relationship between the Pilgrims Welfare Board and journalists, underscoring the importance of media coverage in ensuring transparency and accountability in Hajj operations. Comrade Ismai’la reassured the board of the union’s unwavering support and the need for effective measures to enhance the quality of reporting by journalists in the Holy Land. This collaboration aims to provide accurate and reliable reports on the board’s activities, ultimately fostering a well-informed public.
Responding, the Director General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, expressed sincere gratitude for the visit, acknowledging the crucial role journalists play in informing the public about Hajj activities. He reiterated the board’s commitment to strengthening ties with the media, emphasizing the invaluable contributions journalists make in educating the populace about the board’s activities.
Alhaji Ahmed reflected on the board’s accomplishments in ensuring the welfare and comfort of pilgrims during their stay in the Holy Land, noting that Jigawa State has excelled in providing essential amenities, including improved accommodation and quality meals for pilgrims. He attributed these successes to the support from Governor Malam Umar A Namadi, whose administration prioritizes citizens’ welfare, particularly for those undertaking the sacred journey of Hajj.
