NWC voids expulsion of Kano NNPP Chairman
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has voided the purported expulsion of Mr Hashim Dungurawa , the Kano State Chairman of the party by his ward executives.
The ward executives of Gargari in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State had on Tuesday announced that Dungurawa had been expelled from the party.
However, the NNPP spokesperson Mr Ladipo Johnson, said in a statement on Wednesday that the NWC had voided the purported expulsion, describing it as “misplaced, undemocratic, null, void and of no effect whatsoever”.
“Their action indeed amounts to a gross anti-party activity as it violates the extant provisions of the Party’s constitution,” Johnson said.
He defended Dungurawa, describing him as a “conscientious, hardworking, and dutiful chairman whose leadership and performance over time have been remarkable and contributed to the progress” of the party in Kano.
Dungurawa is known to be a close associate of Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kano governor and the NNPP’s national leader.
The NNPP on Monday expelled Dungurawa from its fold, for opposing Gov. Yusuf Yusuf’s plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dungurawa had addressed a press conference in Kano, expressing his opposition to the governor’s planned defection to the APC.
The former Chairman was expelled by the executives of the party at his Gargari Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state, following a resolution.
The resolution signed by 27 members during the ward’s second executive meeting, under the leadership of the Ward Chairman, Shuaibu Hassan.
According to the resolution, Dungurawa was expelled over allegations of creating divisions within the party, instigating internal crises, failure to pay party dues, and making abusive remarks against the state Governor.
The ward executives described the alleged conduct as unacceptable and detrimental to the image, unity, and progress of the NNPP.
They said the action was taken in strict compliance with the party’s constitution, stressing the need to uphold discipline, unity, and internal cohesion within the party.
The ward leadership disclosed that copies of the resolution have been forwarded to the party’s Local Government, State, and National headquarters for necessary action.
The resolution was also served on the national leader of the party, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Gov. Abba Yusuf for their information and further directives.
The Gargari Ward executives said the sack would serve as a deterrent to individuals who misuse party positions and assume they are above party rules and discipline.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the NNPP national leadership under Senator Kwankwaso and pledged continued support to the Governor
