Obi, Makinde, others visit Kwankwaso in Kano
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, on Sunday paid a Sallah visit to former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Kano.
Obi was accompanied by Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, former Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa and His Royal Majestic, King A.K Tuner among others as part of activities marking the Eid-el-Fitr.
Speaking during the visit, Obi said the visit was to felicitate Kwankwaso and honour him during the festive period.
“I am here to felicitate you on the occasion of the Sallah and to pay my respects to our leader,” he said.
Obi also assured residents of Kano of efforts aimed at reviving the state’s economic base, particularly its industrial sector.
He said plans were underway to restore the productivity of key industrial hubs in the state, including Bompai and the Sharada industrial layouts, as well as revive notable institutions such as the Bank of the North.
“We want to change Kano. We want to build a new Kano. What we want to do is to make sure that we bring back the powers of Kano and restore its industries,” he added.
He, however, stressed that the visit was not politically motivated but intended to celebrate the Sallah festival with the people.
“Today is not about politics, it is about celebrating Sallah. May Almighty Allah bless all of you,” Obi said.
The event was witnessed by unprecedented number of loyalists of Senator Kwankwaso’ who trooped out to give a rousing welcome to the important personalities who graced the occasion.
