‘Our health budget will meet needs of Jigawa’s growing population’ – Commissioner

Jigawa State Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, has assured that the state’s 2025 health budget has been tailored to meet the healthcare needs of the state’s growing population.

The commissioner gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen shortly after a closed door meeting with members of the state House of Assembly, on Tuesday in Dutse.

The meeting involved members of the House Committee on Health and the Jigawa Maternal Newborn Child Heath Accountability Forum, a Non Governmental Organisation.

He said the 5administration is committed to improving health facilities across the state by building on the progress made in the previous years to meet the needs of the growing population.

According to him, the state government has made significant investments in the health sector, including the construction of new hospitals, primary healthcare centers, and the provision of medical equipment.

He assured that the government was committed to revitalizing existing health facilities and ensuring adequate provision of equipments and consumables for quality healthcare delivery.

“The 2025 budget is focused on building on the progress made in the previous years and ensuring that the state’s health facilities are able to meet the needs of the growing population.

“In addition to improving health facilities, the state government is also committed to ensuring that the people of Jigawa state have access to quality healthcare services,” Dr Kainuwa said.

He added that the government has been providing training and support for healthcare workers, and making primary health care centers functional.

The Syndicate gathered that the closed door meeting was to drill the commissioner on the 2024 health budget performance, and for the stakeholders to analyse the funding for the health sector in 2025.
