Police arrest 2 notorious kidnappers in Yobe

Yobe State Police Command has announced the arrest of two notorious kidnappers operating in Dapchi and Tarmuwa Local Government Areas of the state.
The two suspects, Babaro Baushe aged 40 and Umaru Dau’a, 25, who hailed from Askuwari Village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, were arrested on April 9, the command’s spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said in a statement.
They were arrested by police operatives from Dapchi Division at about 0500hrs.
“The suspects have been linked to several crimes, including attack on Badegana Village On November 21, 2024, when the gang launched an attack on a victim’s house, resulting in a fatality.
“On March 10, 2025, the suspects forcefully collected N250,000 from Kudi Ibrahim of Askuwari Village, Tarmuwa LGA, after threatening to abduct or kill him.
“They have confessed to their crimes, and the investigation is ongoing at the State Investigation Department,” the police spokesman said.
Dungus said the Commissioner of Police in Yobe, Emmanuel Ado has directed further efforts to arrest other members of the gang.
He also urged members of the public to provide credible information to aid with the investigation.
