The Katsina State Police Command said it has rescued eleven people kidnapped from various locations in the state on Sunday.
The command spokesman, DSP Aliyu Abubakar Sadiq said that the victims were being herded into the bush by their abductors when a joint security team encountered them along Danmusa-Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the victims comprised of nine females and two males, and were all unhurt.
Sadiq, in a statement on Monday, noted that the success is part of a significant breakthrough recorded by the Command in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry in the state.
He explained that the joint security team of Police operatives, the Military, DSS, a team of Operation Sharan Daji operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilance groups engaged the criminals in a shoot out on June 8, 2025, at about 10:30 pm,
“A gun battle ensued leading to the successful rescue of all 11 victims as the bandits fled the scene due to superior tactics and firepower,” he said, adding that investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bello Shehu has commended the operatives for their bravery and reaffirmed the command’s commitment, in collaboration with sister security agencies, to fighting the menace of kidnapping in the state.
He urged the general public to divulge timely information to security agencies to make the state safer for all.
