Police Rescue 2 Kidnap Victims In Yobe

Police operatives have rescued two kidnap victims after a shootout with the kidnappers in Buni Yadi, Yobe State.

A statement by the Police Command in the state said that the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled with gunshot wounds.

The command spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, who issued the statement added that one AK-47 rifle was recovered daring the operation.

He said that police operatives from Gujba Division responded to a distress call from the area at about 10am, and with the support of  local vigilantes, raided the criminals’ hideout.

“After a fierce gun battle, the suspects fled with gunshot wounds, abandoning their captives and a loaded AK-47 rifle with two magazines containing 25 rounds of live ammunition.

“The rescued victims were unharmed and have been taken to a medical facility for evaluation,” Dungus stated, assuring that efforts were on to track and apprehend the fleeing criminals.

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Emmanuel Ado has praised the operatives and community members for their collaboration, and reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Yobe State.
