Police’ll partner PCRC to fight crimes in Kaduna State — CP

The Kaduna State Police Command says it will work closely with the new state executives of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to combat the growing menace of cybercrime across the state.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, AIG Ibrahim Abdullahi, said this in Kaduna during the inauguration of the 26-member state PCRC executives.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new execuitves is headed by an elder statesman, Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed, with a Deputy Editor-in-Chief of NAN, Alhaji Abdul Hassan as Deputy Secretary.
NAN also reports that the oath of office was administered on the new executives by the PCRC National Vice Chairman, North-Central, and a retired Assistant Editor-in-Chief in NAN, Alhaji Tanko Dada.
According to the CP, the command will also leverage the reach of the PCRC to address other forms of criminal activities at the grassroots.
Abdullahi, represented by the Officer-in-Charge of Community Policing in the command, CSP Titus Ibrahim, noted with concern over the number of youths getting involved in cybercrime and other forms of criminality in the state.
“We will therefore team up with the new PCRC executives in the state to reverse the ugly trend so as to channel the huge potential of the youths to positive use,” he said.
The CP said the PCRC has been an active partner of the Nigeria Police Force, and share in the success story of the command.
Abdullahi appreciated their role in intelligence gathering and execution of community-centred develepment projects.
Also, the National President of PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Olanoyan, expressed delight that the Kaduna state PCRC has become more united and poised to move to greater heights.
According to Olaniyan, the committee will partner with various transport unions in the state and across the country to stem the movement of illicit drugs and firearms, among other illicit activities.
He stressed that the PCRC was committed to assisting the Police and other security agencies as they strive to guarantee the security of lives and property of law abiding Nigerians.
Olaniyan cautioned members against insolence, indiscipline, impersonation and insurbodination, stressing that they should at all times show commitment, and be loyal and dedicated to the vision of the group.
In his comment, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Mansur Hassan, promised to work with the committee to improve community policing, and in channeling the energy of the youth to legitimate productive endeavours.
In his acceptance speech, the new PCRC Chairman in Kaduna State, Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed pledged to be diligent and patriotic in the discharge of the all-important national assignment.
He commended the members and national leadership of the committee for reposing tremendous confidence in him and his colleagues.
“We will piously uphold this utmost trust and confidence reposed in us and we will never fail you.
“We will do our possible best to take PCRC to greater heights and bolster the security of lives and property of the people of the state and by extension, Nigerians.
“The new PCRC team will also work round the clock to assist the Police in all their activities as this is clarion call for more dedication and uprightness.”
