Dawanau International Grains Market in Dawakin Toda LGA of Kano State has hired over 800 additional security guards to protect the market from vandals and thieves amidst nationwide protest against hunger and bad governance in the state.
He said 400 additional vigilance group members were engaged to work alongside security agencies to safeguard the market.
The market has faced threats from hoodlums in neighbouring areas, such as Kurnan Asabe and Bachirawa, who had attempted to enter and steal food items forcefully.
Mr Isa said the market’s management was committed to supporting security personnel to protect public buildings against vandalism, and urged residents to assist the personnel with credible information on the movement of hoodlums.
According to him, this will ensure the safety and security of the market, the general public and critical assets.
