Ramadan: Be compassionate, reduce prices, Sultan urges traders
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Dr Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged traders to be compassionate and reduce the prices goods during the Ramadan.
The Sultan made the appeal in a statement issued by the Secretary-General of JNI, Prof. Khalid Aliyu, on Thursday in Kaduna.
He said doing so, would be in line with the month of Ramadan, which embodies compassion, generosity, kindness, and selflessness.
He said it is a month in which Muslims are expected to increase their level of charity and compassion.
“As the Muslim community prepares for Ramadan, let the period serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion, kindness, and generosity.
“By embracing these values, Muslims can foster a more harmonious and peaceful society during Ramadan and beyond,” the Sultan added.
He noted that the current economic hardship has made it imperative government, corporate bodies, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and wealthy individuals to assist in making life easier for citizens.
The Sultan encouraged Muslims to utilise the month of Ramadan in prayers for the peace, stability and prosperity of the country.
He admonished those involved in crimes, including armed banditry and insurgency, to fear Allah and desist from violence.
Abubakar cautioned against allowing unqualified scholars to preach in the interest of peace and stability of the society.
