Senator Barau donates 1,000 motorcycles to Police in Kano
Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin has donated 1,000 motorcycles to enhance policing in Kano State.
The 1,000 motorcycles were presented to the Commissioner of Police in Kano State Police Command Headquarters, at Bompai in Kano.
Barau commended the officers and men of the command for their tireless efforts to ensure the security of lives and property in Kano state.
“We take pride in the work of the Kano Police Command, which collaborates effectively with other security agencies such as the Department of State Services (DSS). Our appreciation for their service cannot be overstated.
“Security is not solely the responsibility of the government, the police, or other security agencies; it is a collective responsibility. Everyone has a role to play – including high-net-worth individuals, traditional rulers, religious leaders, students, and even the average citizens.
“Therefore, we must all unite to support our dedicated men and women in the Nigerian Police Force, particularly in Kano Command. They deserve our assistance in every way possible, whether by providing information or resources to aid their operations,” the deputy senate president said.
According to him, the motorcycles will enable the police to effectively reach all areas of the state to combat criminal activities.
“Criminals, be warned: it’s time to stop your nefarious activities and embrace peace, otherwise, the Nigeria Police Force in Kano is prepared to take action, they will be at your doorsteps,” Barau warned.
He pledged to continue supporting the Police “because they risked their lives for us to stay in peace”, as such “we will continue to give them all the necessary support and assistance to ensure maintenance of law and order in the state”.
Earlier, DIG Ali A. Muhammad, the outgoing officer in charge of Zone 1 Kano, appreciated the Senator for the gesture, commending his immense contributions to security in the state, and called on all police personnel to reciprocate by ensuring effective service delivery to the good people of the state.
In a remark, Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba spoke on the significance of collective action to address insecurity in any society.
“This unwavering support and generosity underscores the critical importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and government leadership in advancing our collective mission of serving and safeguarding the people of Kano State.
“The provision of these motorcycles symbolises more than just a mode of transportation, it represents a tangible investment in the capabilities and morale of our dedicated police officers, enhancing their operational efficiency and response readiness.
“The significance of this initiative extends far beyond the motorcycles themselves; it speaks volumes to the profound impact that strategic partnerships and community support can have on the effectiveness and vitality of our law enforcement efforts,” he said.
According to him, the Senator’s gesture also signifies commitment to the police force and the broader community, and a shared vision for public safety and security.
“His generosity not only reinforces the vital role that collaboration plays in achieving our common goals but also serves as a testament to his dedication to the well-being of our officers and the residents we are sworn to protect,” Salman observed.
The commissioner of police urged all police personnel to utilise the motorcycles “as tools of service excellence”, and forge stronger bonds with communities.
He appreciated the Deputy Senate President for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to supporting the Force, citing ongoing construction of modern Police Secondary School in Kabo, and renovation of the Command’s Headquarters, as example.
