Tinubu makes 14 new appointments

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday announced fresh appointments for nine federal agencies and commissions.

They include the National Pension Commission, PENCOM, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, ICRC, National Agricultural Land Development Authority, NALDA and the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, National Agency for the Great Green Wall, NAGGW, National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NHSA, among others.

According to separate statements released by the presidential spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the appointments are with immediate effect.

Ms Omolola Bridget Oloworaran is now the new Director-General of the National Pension Commission, PenCom.

Ms. Oloworaran is a finance and banking expert with many years of experience and the appointment is subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate.

“President anticipates a goal-oriented leadership to drive efficiency and superlative performance in the National Pension Commission as the prime regulator of the Nigerian Pension Industry,” the statement said.

Also, President Tinubu has appointed Mr. Jobson Ewalefoh as the new Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, ICRC.

Mr. Ewalefoh has years of professional  experience in government and development organizations, as well as expertise in public-private partnerships, public policy reform and development.

His appointment is also subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate.

The President tasked him ensure probity in the management of the ICRC and in line with the strategic objective of accelerating investment in national infrastructure through the innovative mobilization of private-sector funding.

For NALDA, President Tinubu appointed Mr. Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo as the new Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer.

The statement also stated that President Tinubu appointed Dr. Mainasara Umar Kogo as the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.

Dr. Kogo is a seasoned lawyer and analyst in the fields of law, security, economy, politics, and international diplomacy.

“The President anticipates professionalism, integrity, and fidelity to the nation in the discharge of the functions of the Office of the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), it added.

Other appointments made include, Mr. Saleh Abubakar as the new Director-General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, NAGGW and Mr. Umar Ibrahim Mohammed as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NHSA.

Mr. Abubakar, a highly experienced public administrator with decades of experience across several sectors, was tasked with driving the agency’s mandate of empowering communities to combat land degradation, enhance food security, and build resilience to climate change through sustainable interventions and education.

For the new DG of NHSA is an architect and a construction technology and environment professional.

The President expected him to improve outcomes in the agency’s objective of operating and maintaining hydrological stations nationwide, as well as carrying out groundwater exploration and monitoring using various scientific techniques to provide hydrological and hydrogeological data needed for planning, design, execution and management of water resources and allied projects.

Other appointments made by the President were those of Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and Mrs. Mojisolaoluwa Kehinde Alli-Macaulay as the Executive Director (Operations).

Similarly, Tinubu has appointed Senator Bashir Lado Mohammed as Special Adviser on Senate Matters, while Mr. Idris Ajimobi was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development.

Also appointed is Dr. Olufemi Adekanmbi as the new Project Coordinator for the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), who was directed to restore and revitalize communities impacted by hydrocarbon pollution, with a primary focus on Ogoniland in Nigeria.

The President also appointed a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Mr. Silas Agara as the new Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

He is expected to overhaul the NDE for optimal performance in designing and implementing programmes to combat mass unemployment.

Another appointee announced by the presidency is Alhaji Baffa Dan Agundi as the new Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC).

Mr. Dan Agundi is a former majority leader of the Kano State House of Assembly and one time Principal Registrar of the Kano State High Court of Justice.

The President directed Dan Agundi to develope a national culture of excellence in operational efficiency and institutionalizing a performance-driven orientation toward measurable productivity in the citizenry for the overall enhancement of service delivery and quality of life across the nation.

All the appointments are with immediate effect.
